“Coming out is a decision-making process that Queer people are constantly experiencing as they enter new situations. For Queer educators, the first time they are confronted with this issue is when they enter the teaching profession. When they are first employed they must decide to come out to their colleagues. Once that occurs, they must decide if they want to come out to their students and the students’ parents and caregivers. In addition, this process becomes an annual event. At the start of each school year, the teacher will have new students” (Asperillia, p. 94)
